Alongside the bigger features, a long list of smaller changes landed between August and October. These are the ones you're most likely to notice.
Memory you control
- A Use memory switch in Settings → Agent memory. When it's off, nothing is loaded into prompts and nothing new is saved. Your existing memories are kept until you clear them.
- Old memories are archived, not deleted, and can be restored.
- Remember from chats is now a simple choice: Save automatically or Off. The in-chat "Remember this?" cards are gone.
Chat
- The assistant's questions come one at a time (Question 2 of 3), with Back and Next, and stay where they were asked in the conversation.
- A message you type while the assistant is working is queued, instead of stopping the run.
- Chats are cleaner by default. Turn on Show agent detail in Settings → AI Agent to see planning steps and per-step notes.
- Attachments survive a restart, and the assistant can look at images in your project when you use a model that supports images.
- Long chats keep far more of their history, and a context meter next to Send shows how much of the model's context is in use.
- Failed requests retry automatically and show the attempt count. If they still fail, there's a Try again button.
- Safe, read-only commands no longer ask for approval.
Documents and PDFs
- Scanned PDFs can now be attached and read. When the assistant reads a PDF with a model that supports images, it also sees the page images, so figures and layout count.
- Numbered citation styles such as Vancouver, PLOS ONE and Cell no longer render every in-text citation as [1]. Same-author, same-year works now show 2020a and 2020b in the text as well as in the bibliography.
- Images in documents that showed as broken now display.
- Quarto and Pandoc
::: {.class}blocks survive a save in the rich editor. - Unsaved work is backed up shortly after you stop typing, including documents over 4 MB, which previously had no backup.
- An AI edit to an open document is now a single Ctrl+Z step.
- Creating a new Excel file from chat no longer fails with "File not found".
Analysis
The assistant's Python code now runs in a real Python environment on your computer instead of an in-app sandbox, so real packages work, and a trusted project's own .venv is used when it has one. Code is shown for your approval before it runs.
Around the app
- New project asks for a name, and the project is ready immediately.
- Settings, recent projects, theme and language that went missing after the 2.0.130 update are restored.
- Copy buttons across the app work again.
- The crash dialog now says what happened, and whether your unsaved work was backed up.
- Stop now ends a command and everything it started.
- What's New no longer pops up on a brand-new install.
